However, color is much more impactful of us then most of us may think. Have you ever noticed how much the color “red” is used in fast food places? Well red gives the impression of motion and a fast food restaurant wants to keep it fast. You come in, place your order, and get the heck out! And do it all fast! Why? So I can have room for my next customer that I want to do the exact same thing! Ha! So when choosing colors in your design, consider the impact and feeling that the color will make on your customers.

Psychology of Black -
Black is the color of authority and power, stability and strength.

Psychology of White -
For most of the world this is the color associated with purity (wedding dresses); cleanliness (doctors in white coats) and the safety of bright light (things go bump in the night … not the bright sunshine!).

Psychology of Gray -
Gray is most associated with the practical, timeless, middle-of-the-road, solid things in life.

Psychology of Red -
If you want to draw attention, use red. It is often where the eye looks first. Red is the color of energy.

Psychology of Blue -
Ask people their favorite color and a clear majority will say blue. Much of the world is blue (skies, seas).

Psychology of Green -
The color of growth, nature, and money. A calming color also that’s very pleasing to the senses.

Psychology of Yellow -
Cheerful yellow the color of the sun, associated with laughter, happiness and good times.

Psychology of Orange -
The most flamboyant color on the planet! It’s the color tied most this fun times, happy and energetic days, warmth and organic products.

Psychology of Purple -
What color were the robes of kings and queens? Yes, they were purple, our most royal color that is associated with wealth, prosperity, rich sophistication.

Psychology of Brown -
This color is most associated with reliability, stability, and friendship.

So…I stare at them for a moment and then excuse myself as I got to the bathroom and scream. Once I have composed myself I return to the meeting and politely ask the client to consider this, “How about trying to figure out what the main goal or message is and lets design around that? Most mainstream successful companies have logos that are simple.

Look at Nike, Target and Jaguar. Their logos are clean and to the point. So after my little talk most of them let go of the Eagle…most of them. My point is, finding the main goal that you wish to express to the world is where your logo should be.

Sometimes that not even needed. Sometimes the text of your company name in a professional font is just perfect. So when deciding on the icons or image to use in your logo…Don’t be a Drama Queen…Keep it Clean. Have a great day!

On the other hand, some women enjoy the color. A specific color may help a person like a design while it may help another person hate a design.

Nonetheless, when it comes to logo design, one concern is to like the actual logo for its fonts, style, and purpose to fulfill your personal or business needs. To make sure this is clearly expressed, we suggest an initial black and white version of the logo. If you like it in black and white, then color will make it stand out even more. That is if the correct color is used…and not pin for those “pink” women haters.

Of course some say, “Strong men can wear pink.” Be that as it may be, I will be a strong man in my dark blue…thank you very much! After you have designed your logo and font style in black and white, then you can add the colors and effects that appeal to you. I am pretty sure it will be alright.

This will give you adequate time for color experimentation in order to finalize the logo design just the way you like it. Thanks and have a great day.
